This blueberry goat cheese crostini is the perfect Spring & Summer appetizer, plus it only takes 15 minutes to make.

Easy to make and perfect for get-togethers.

A simple goat cheese dip is something I love serving for guests, like my fig jam goat cheese appetizer! It’s always handy to have a simple Spring or Summer appetizer in your back pocket that you can whip up in a moment’s notice!

Goat cheese is one of my favourite ingredients to use in appetizers because it’s so versatile. And especially in the summertime the creaminess of the goat cheese goes so well with fresh berries!

Why you’ll love this blueberry goat cheese appetizer!

You only need 8 simple ingredients to make this blueberry goat cheese recipe.

It only takes 5 minutes to prepare everything and then 10 minutes to cook.

You can make part of this appetizer ahead of time!

I love serving it with toasted baguette but you could also serve it with crackers.

Ingredients Needed

Blueberries: I’ve used fresh blueberries in this recipe but you can always use frozen blueberries if it isn’t blueberry season when you’re making this appetizer!

Goat Cheese: this is one of my favorite cheeses to use as a dip, but feel free to use cream cheese instead if that’s all you have on hand.

Fresh Thyme: little touches like a fresh thyme garnish make all the difference!

Honey: I’ve added some honey to the blueberry topping as well as the goat’s cheese, but feel free to use maple syrup if that’s all you have!

Step by Step Process to make this blueberry goat cheese appetizer

Step 1: Start by making the blueberry topping. Add the blueberries, 2 tablespoons of honey, and the balsamic vinegar to a small pot. Over medium heat, bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring often, until the blueberries start to break down. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely. Need this to cool down quickly? Place in the fridge!

Step 2: Preheat the oven to a low broil. Slice half of the baguette into ½ -inch slices and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle the slices with olive oil and broil on low for 2-4 minutes, or until just crisp. Set aside.

Step 3: Stir together the softened goat cheese and 1 tablespoon of honey. Spread this onto a plate or a shallow bowl.

Step 4: Spoon over the blueberry mixture and top with some extra fresh blueberries and fresh thyme sprigs. Place in the fridge until ready to serve.

Step 5: Serve with crostini or crackers!

faq

Can I make any of this ahead of time?
You can make the blueberry topping the night before! Make the topping according to the recipe and store in the fridge until ready to use. Take it out of the fridge about 15 minutes before you want to serve this blueberry goat cheese appetizer.

What else can I serve with this appetizer?
I love serving it with crostini and crackers, but you can also serve it with pita chips or a crusty bread!

Can I use frozen blueberries instead of fresh?
You sure can, if it isn’t the season for blueberries when you’re making this then you can definitely use frozen blueberries.

Expert Tips for making this blueberry goat cheese appetizer

Keep an eye on the baguette slices while they’re in the oven as you don’t want them to burn!

Want to make crostini to go with this dip? Slice a baguette into 1-inch thick slices and preheat your oven to 400°Fahrenheit. Brush one side of each slice of baguette with olive oil and place on a baking sheet in a single layer. Toast for 10 minutes, flipping after 5 minutes.

You want the goat cheese to be softened when you make this recipe, so be sure to take it out at least 10-15 minutes before starting!

Don’t have time to soften the cheese? Mix in 1-2 tablespoons of milk and stir until it is spreadable!
