<p id="isPasted">A French 75 cocktail is just perfect to cheers with on any occasion.</p>
<p>But, I&rsquo;m shaking up this classic champagne cocktail up with a touch of lavender bitters for a floral twist.</p>
<p>While a classic french 75 contains a dry gin, I use the gorgeous, hand-crafted&nbsp;<a href="https://www.empressgin.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Empress 1908 Gin</a>&nbsp;which provides the gorgeous hue to this cocktail. The gin&rsquo;s subtle earthy notes complement the notes of lavender bitters for a sip made for warmer weather.</p>
<p>Plus the gorgeous colour transforms from a vivid indigo blue to a more pink hue with the addition of the fresh lemon juice!</p>
<p>It&rsquo;s really a gorgeous sip, inside and out so let&rsquo;s cheers friends!</p>
<h3>why you&rsquo;ll love this french 75</h3>
<ul>
<li>The perfect cocktail to enjoy on any occasion: Mother&rsquo;s Day,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/summer-brunch-board/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Brunch</a>, weekend cocktail hour or for a Spring or Summer soiree</li>
<li>Simple to make and love dose of Springtime flavour</li>
<li>Easily impress guests with this bright and beautiful sparkling cocktail!</li>
</ul>

<h3>ingredients in a lavender french 75 cocktail</h3>
<p><strong>Gin:</strong>&nbsp;Using a beautiful gin like Empress 1908 bring a beautiful hue to this cocktail!</p>
<p><strong>Simple Syrup:</strong>&nbsp;Can be easily made ahead of time with equal parts of sugar and water and adds just a touch of sweetness to this bubbly cocktail</p>
<p><strong>Lemon Juice:</strong>&nbsp;the natural lemon flavour from a fresh squeezed lemon brings just a lovely brightness and complements the simple syrup.</p>
<p><strong>Lavender Bitters:</strong>&nbsp;Just a couple of dashes of lavender bitters to elevate this classic cocktail.</p>
<p><strong>Prosecco or Champagne:</strong>&nbsp;Makes this cocktail sparkle!</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6042" src="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597.jpg" alt="Lavender French 75 Cocktail" width="1067" height="1600" srcset="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597.jpg 1067w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597-187x280.jpg 187w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597-1024x1536.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1067px) 100vw, 1067px" data-pin-media="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Empress-Gin-75-7597.jpg"></p>
<h3>how to make this cocktail</h3>
<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> To make the simple syrup: In a small saucepan combine &frac12; cup sugar and &frac12; cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.</p>
<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> To make one cocktail: Shake gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and lavender bitters over ice. Strain into a coupe or flute. Top with prosecco &amp; garnish with a lemon peel twist and/or lavender sprig.</p>
<h3>expert tips for making a french 75</h3>
<ul>
<li>Make the simple syrup ahead of time. Then, you&rsquo;ll easily have it on hand to make this cocktail in just 5 minutes.</li>
<li>If you want to shake up a classic French 75 instead, simply omit the lavender bitters.</li>
<li>While this cocktail is traditionally served in a champagne flute, I love the look of it in a coupe glass as well! And when in need, a white wine glass can work too.</li>
</ul>

<h3>common questions</h3>
<p><strong>What if I don&rsquo;t have a cocktail shaker?</strong><br>
If you don&rsquo;t have a cocktail shaker, don&rsquo;t fret. You can use a mason jar with a lid</p>
<p id="isPasted"><strong>What&rsquo;s the best type of gin to use in a French 75 Cocktail?</strong><br>
A London Dry gin like Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire is classically used to make this cocktail. However, you can also look for the Empress 1908 Gin which gies the cocktail a purple hue as shown in my photos.</p>
<p><strong>Can I use something else other than champagne?</strong><br>
The French 75 cocktail is classically made with champagne. However, you can use prosecco or cava too as each of them will bring the required bubbly to the cocktail!</p>

<h3>storage</h3>
<p>This cocktail is best enjoyed as soon as it&rsquo;s made! However, you can make the simple syrup ahead of time and store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to one month.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Made with a stunningly pink-hued rhubarb simple syrup, this cocktail comes together every so simply.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&rsquo;s a classic cocktail with a lovely rhubarb twist!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">My love for rhubarb runs deep as you can tell from this <a href="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/berry-rhubarb-kombucha-sangria/" type="post" id="3324" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rhubarb Sangria</a>, <a href="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/strawberry-rhubarb-hand-pies/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Strawberry Rhubarb Hand Pies</a> and <a href="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/rhubarb-cake/" type="post" id="3353" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rhubarb Coffee Cake</a> recipes!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">So, I just love the flavour of the rhubarb simple syrup which is slightly sweet paired with the gin, fresh lemon juice and champagne in this cocktail recipe. &nbsp;It&rsquo;s a slightly tart cocktail with a bit of sweetness from the rhubarb syrup and of course the bubbles from the champagne.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Why you&rsquo;ll love this rhubarb french 75 cocktail recipe</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>It&rsquo;s bright, bubbly and beautiful for the Spring &amp; Summer season!</li>

<li>It is very simple to make.</li>

<li>Guests will be wowed when they see this beautifully-pink hued and sparkly drink.</li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When you need a gorgeous cocktail to celebrate with, grab a champagne glass and make this drink!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1067" height="1600" src="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287.jpg" alt="a rhubarb french 75 in a coupe glass with a lemon twist" class="wp-image-8507" srcset="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287.jpg 1067w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287-187x280.jpg 187w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287-150x225.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 1067px) 100vw, 1067px" data-pin-media="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9287.jpg"></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once you&rsquo;ve made the rhubarb simple syrup, all you need is a cocktail shaker and a few key ingredients.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ingredients needed to make this french 75 cocktail</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph" id="isPasted"><strong>Rhubarb Simple Syrup:</strong> fresh rhubarb, sugar and water will cook down in a small saucepan to produce the loveliest hued pink rhubarb syrup.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Champagne:</strong> this French 75 cocktail is classically made with champagne, you can use prosecco or cava too.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Gin:</strong> you can use your favourite / preferred gin but one of my recommendations would be Hendricks. A London Dry gin like Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire would also be divine.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Lemon Juice:</strong> Brings a pop of freshness to this cocktail.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Garnishes:</strong> try a rhubarb ribbon (a thinly shaved piece of rhubarb) or a lemon twist (made from a lemon peel) for a beautiful garnish to this cocktail.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="1067" height="1600" src="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296.jpg" alt="rhubarb simple syrup" class="wp-image-8508" srcset="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296.jpg 1067w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296-187x280.jpg 187w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296-150x225.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 1067px) 100vw, 1067px" data-pin-media="https://www.cookinginmygenes.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rhubarb-french-75-9296.jpg"></figure>
