Ingredients

  • 1/2 peach, chopped
  • 3 large basil leaves
  • pinch sugar (optional)
  • 4 oz white wine I love sauvignon blanc with this cocktail
  • 2 oz sparkling water

Instructions

  • Add peach pieces, basil leaves and a pinch of sugar to a mason jar. Using a wooden spoon or muddler, smash the peach pieces with basil a couple of times until the peaches start to release their juices.
  • Add in the white wine and stir a couple of times. Fill desired glass with ice, pour the peach-white wine mixture into the mug and then top with sparkling water. Cheers & enjoy!

Notes

  • What if I don't have a ripe peach? You could try a ripe nectarine instead of a peach since they have similar flavour profiles. In a pinch, you could use 1-2 oz of peach juice or peach nectar and then just use the fresh peach slices you have on hand to garnish the drink.
  • Can I use a different white wine for this cocktail? While I think a sauvignon blanc or a pinot grigio work best in this peach wine spritzer, you could also try a white wine blend.
  • How can I make this cocktail into a pitcher drink to serve more people? You could easily make a pitcher of this drink. Times the recipe by how many people you want to serve and muddle the peaches and basil needed in a large pitcher. Pour in the amount of wine according to the recipe and then store in the fridge. Before serving, add ice to the cups you're serving in and sparkling water to the pitcher. Then simply pour from the pitcher into the ice-filled glasses and cheers!
