Craving Spring recipes?! Me too!

Recipes to cook in March

Though the weather is a mixed bag right now, I am definitely craving more fresh recipes.

So let’s chat all the recipes to make in March plus some of my best grocery budgeting tips!

One thing I’ve become very conscious of lately is our grocery bill. Have you noticed your bills getting pricier?

Here are some of my best grocery budgeting tips

  • Buy in season. That’s why I love to share my monthly What’s In Season posts! Anything in the fruits and vegetables section plus frozen vegetables & fruit too as they are generally frozen at peak freshness.
  • Substitute in some plant-based sources of protein like lentils or other beans. I like to make ‘half-half’ recipes; for example, if a recipe requires 2lbs ground beef or ground turkey, I go with 1lb of the meat and substitute in lentils or beans for the other half. This strategy would work great with my Simple & Easy Turkey Tacos recipe!
  • Buy in bulk where it makes sense. Does your family eat a lot of rice or quinoa? Get that big bag at the store, especially if it’s on sale.

I thought I’d highlight a few of my fav budget-friendly recipes to help you with weekly meal planning too:

Pita Pizza’s – These are an original blog recipe which are super tasty, very affordable and easy to make with simple ingredients.

Lemon Chicken – With chicken breasts, lemons and some simple pantry spices this dinner is absolutely budget-friendly.

Peanut Butter Baked Banana Oatmeal Cups – An easy grab-and-go breakfast or snack! They are protein-packed too and made with fairly simple ingredients that won’t cost too much.

Quiche & Frittata – Two affordable recipes using eggs. You can absolutely mix & match the vegetable add-ins and these are great dishes for dinner too!

30 Minute Chicken Broccoli Stir Fry – Extremely easy to make and you can substitute in many vegetables that are in season OR even use frozen broccoli or peas!

And check out the wicked blog Budget Bytes for even more ideas even breaking things down to cost per recipe!
